Our Thanksgiving weekend is just wrapping up and before my dad left I asked him to help me hang a few more pieces back up on the walls. This summer I had the walls painted and I’ve really taken my time putting things back out into the living room. It’s not quite there yet, but I’m happy with the progress.
Someday I want to replace the tile on the fireplace, but for now it’s not looking too bad. I love beeswax candle, maybe I can find cream or white ones next time. The gray walls have really made the Ikea PS cabinets look less cream and more white. These mirrors are opposite the windows and help to reflect light around the room. I have to admit I do love these venetian styled mirrors. I like them next to the modern metal cabinet and I think it’s the liquid silver feel of them and the light they reflect.
I love the new handblown white glass Blomster candlesticks from Ikea, designed by P Amsell/B Wesslander. This glass lamp, is part of a set I found for a steal and Home Sense here in Langley. I want to get a bigger shade one day, but not any time soon. I’ve had this cedar mask since I was in my early 20’s, it was my first lay-away purchase. I thought I lost it for a while, but then found it at work, only to fall, bang it on the floor and crack it in half. My amazing cousin repaired it for me and now I get to enjoy it every day.
I bought this gorgeous Blygsam pot (in a set of 2) on a recent trip to Ikea along with the white glass candle holders. I fell in love with the gray blue and the graphic design. I mounted these framed botanical prints of seeds above the fauxdenza, I knew I would like the contrast of the wood frames with the white. I still need to come up with a plan for the top. Not sure if I’m going light or dark, but with the dark floor I’m leaning toward light. The wall at the right end is still crooked (no it didn’t magically correct itself) and we need to come up with a plan to mask that too.
I’m really happy with the look in the hallway. I love the clean lines of the fauxdenza, so I haven’t added handles.
Thanks to my dad for all the help getting things back where they belong and solving the problem of crooked walls. Not bad for a super smart, handyman who is finishing off his chemo maintenance treatments, while having six paintings in various showings around town.
(He’s just celebrated his 81st birthday, Happy Birthday Dad!)
